Red Spot Cardinalfish are a striking fish with definitive red spot at the base of their tail. Unusually having two dorsal fins, these fish are best suited to the slightly to the more experienced fishkeeper. Growing up to only 6cm, these need to be kept an aquarium at least 80cm long and 125 litres in capacity. Keep with other peaceful fish and they can be kept reef or fish only set ups. Feed a mix of flake, pellets, live and frozen marine foods.

Colour: semi transparent with a red spot at the base of the tail.
Native habitat: Western & Indo Pacific regions.
Potential lifespan: 5-15 years.
Maximum size (approx.): 4cm.

• Moderate, for slightly more experienced fishkeepers.

• Peaceful.

• Flake food, small pellets such as Hikari Marine S,
• Live and frozen brineshrimp, mysis, along with lobster eggs, and small pieces of cockle and mussel.

Cohabitation:
• Best kept in small groups.
• Suitable to keep with some other peaceful fish of a similar size such as: Dwarf Angels, Anthias, Basslets, Boxfish, Chromis, Clowns, Dragonets, Filefish, Foxface/Rabbitfish, Gobies, Grunts, Hawkfish, Jawfish, Puffers, Tangs, & Wrasse.
• Be careful species such as large Angelfish, Blennies, Damsels, Hogfish, Parrotfish, Pseudochromis, Squirrelfish, & Triggers.
Other tips and information:
• 20-25% fortnightly water changes is essential.
• Good biological filtration, efficient protein skimming, and activated carbon are all vital.
