Moss balls make for a very interesting addition to the aquarium or aquascape. They have a lovely soft, velvety green appearance, something unique for an underwater world. Best kept in groups, they naturally roll around slowly with water flows, adding an extra dimension to the tank. Technically, these are a species of algae and not a plant, shrimps and small fish are especially attracted to them, and they are often spotted grazing off them. Moss balls can grow as big as 30cm in diameter out in the wild although they will not get anywhere near that size in an aquarium. Highly sought after, a group of these in differing sizes is really eye catching in any set up. Good, moderate lighting is all you need for these to thrive.
