Mirror Carp are more commonly found in coarse fisheries but are also popular with some likeminded pond keepers. Mirror carp are a mutation of the common carp developed through selective breeding. The name "mirror carp" originates from their scales' resemblance to mirrors. You will need a big pond for these, and good filtration too as they can be very messy. In the wild, they can grow to around 90cm in length (excluding the tails) although this does depend on habitat size, feeding and general husbandry. Mirror Carp are very active, hardy, grow quickly and eat lots of food. If your pond is big enough, they do make for great pet fish and do become quite tame.
