Bleeding Heart Anthias are very bright, and colourful marine fish. Best kept in small shoals, their activeness can give confidence and draw out any shyer fish out that are hiding away in the reef. Growing up to 10cm, these need to be kept an aquarium at least 120cm long and 300 litres in capacity. Can be kept with most fish that are not big enough to eat them (not all, check first) in an aquarium with lots of rock work and some open swimming space.
• Create plenty of hiding places such as caves and out crops with live rock.

• Mid-water.
Sex:
• Hermaphroditic, if the dominant male dies, the largest female of the group will often transform in to a male to take its place.

Water parameters:
• pH: 8.1 to 8.4.
• kH: 8-12 dKH.
• Specific gravity: 1.021-1.025.
• Nitrate: less 10ppm, but lower than 5ppm is far better.
• Dissolved Oxygen: 6-7ppm.
Feeding:
• Carnivore, planktivorous, feed frozen or live brine shrimp, cyclops, and Mysis.
• Flakes and pellets will be accepted once the fish are properly established and settled down in the aquarium.

• 120cm long,

Cohabitation:
• Best kept in a shoal, 1 male to 4/6 females or juvenile fish.
• Will live with most fish but proceed with caution when keeping with other Anthias, Batfish, Eels, Lionfish, Scorpionfish, Triggers and Wrasse.
• Do not keep with Grouper, Pipefish, Rays, Seahorses, Sharks.

• 20-25% fortnightly water changes is essential.
• Good biological filtration, efficient protein skimming, and activated carbon are all vital.
