Anubias is a genus of aquatic and semi-aquatic flowering plants in the family Araceae, native to tropical central and western Africa. They primarily grow in rivers and streams, but can also be found in marshes. They are characterized by broad, thick, dark leaves that come in many different forms. Anubias are a great way to start your love affair with the planted aquarium, a beautiful plant used by beginners and experienced plant keepers alike. Anubias generally only require low light levels making them perfect if you are new to aquascaping, and are highly adaptable with regards to water quality. Best attached to rocks or bogwood, they are a beautiful and easy to care for addition to your aquarium. Anubias minima is also referred to as Anubias barteri var. glabra, they have long leaves that can be upto 15cm and are a suitable midground plant.
