It is important to clean your aquarium gravel regularly.

With coarse substrates such as gravel, stones, and some planting mediums such as Nature Soil, dirt and detritus gets into the gaps, collects, and settles. This then breaks down, raising nitrate levels which in turn increases nuisance algae growth.

If you have fine sand, or other more compact substrates, dirt, and detritus general forms on the top. With light use of this cleaner, it is easy to remove.

Tip/idea: When ‘scaping’ the base of your aquarium, try to keep the lowest point of the substrate at the front. This is not easy, and your fish will do some ‘gardening’ to change this, but it will help some of the dirt and detritus to settle at the front of the aquarium, making it easier to remove.

When/how to use:

• With partial water changes, syphoning the water straight into a bucket,
• Suitable for connection to an external filter when not doing water changes,
