Eheim phosphate out is a special iron compound for the removal of phosphate from the aquarium. Phosphate is a primary food source for unsightly algae. The iron binds the phosphate removing it from the water circulation, and thus reducing in stages the phosphate levels in the aquarium. In this way algae growth in the aquarium is inhibited. If the phosphate levels start to rise, and consequently the growth of algae starts to increase, this means that the filter medium is depleted and must be replaced.

Eheim Phosphate Out in granulate form, is suitable for use in external canister, sump, and some internal filters.

Inside the filter, Eheim Phosphate Out needs to be placed in the layering set up of the filter after the mechanical (i.e. Eheim MECH or MECHpro) and the biological filter media (Eheim SUBSTRATpro). For convenience, it is better to be placed in the filter inside a net bag (provided).

For best results, place some Eheim SYNTH or an Eheim fine filter pad (white coloured) directly after the Phosphate Out. This will give the water that final ‘polish’ before it re-enters the aquarium.

It is free from harmful substances and is suitable for both fresh and saltwater.
